About The Skin
As the largest and fastest-growing organ of the body, the skin’s
primary job is protection. Covering all internal organs and body
parts from the outside world, skin has four basic layers: the epidermis,
papillary dermis, reticular dermis, and the subcutaneous tissue.
The stratum corneum is the outermost layer of the epidermis and is
composed of dead skin cells migrating upwards from the deeper layers
of the underlying epidermis. The epidermis contains melanocytes, cells that produce melanin. Melanocytes are found at the bottom of the epidermis and give your skin its color. The next two layers, called
the papillary and reticular dermis, contain hair follicles, nerve
endings and small blood vessels. The final layer is called the subcutaneous
tissue, which insulates the body with fat.

Rejuvenating The Skin
Also known as a photofacial, skin rejuvenation can reduce and remove
age spots (sun-induced freckles), benign brown pigmentation, and
redness caused by flushing or broken capillaries on the skin’s
surface. By selectively heating the collagen and
fibroblasts (collagen producing cells) found within the dermis, the Omnilight™ FPL stimulates
the production of new collagen and elastin. This leaves
the skin looking healthy, refreshed and, in many cases, younger.

Our patented fluorescent pulsed light (FPL) technology uses selective
photothermolysis to carefully destroy specific targets in the skin, allowing
for both natural removal by the body and improved skin. The Omnilight™ and Novalight™ FPLs™ do this by heating the deeper dermal tissues while keeping the superficial epidermis cool (Extended Theory of Selective Photo-Thermolysis).

FPL Benefits
The benefits of using the Omnilight™ or Novalight™ FPL™ Pulsed Light
Systems compared to alternative IPL systems include their increased
effectiveness due to adjustable pulse width, and our advanced pulse
forming and BTS™ (Better Than Sapphire) speed epidermal
pre-cooling technologies – all designed to increase patient comfort and minimize
side effects. The combination of advanced pulse forming and BTS speed epidermal pre-cooling gives our FPL systems the ability to easily treat all skin types.

Normal Treatment Response
- Mild redness (erythema)
- Darkening of the pigmented lesions
- Skin tightening
- Disappearance of many small unwanted vessels

Follow Up
The patient should return for a second treatment six (6) weeks after
the initial treatment. For a period of up to six (6) months, there may be ongoing improvements in the skin. It is recommended that the average patient receive treatment a total of four (4) or five (5) times for collagen remodeling, and less than three (3) for pigmentation and vascular issues.
